I’m tired of our trigger-happy cancel-culture. Loosen up your fingers, crack your knuckles, and get ready to destroy me in the comments…because you’re going to hate me after this.

The general consensus in this country is that conservatives can no longer say what they want — i.e., some racist, homophobic, or sexist bullshit — and get away unscathed. And you know what? There may be some truth to that! And I’m not mad at that. Not mad at that at all.
As a country, we should be moderating divisive views and rewriting harmful narratives. I’m not against censoring harmful rhetoric and policing discriminatory behavior.
However, must perpetrators of basic human decency and moral/social tolerance be subjected to unremitting hounding, public shaming, and immediate dismissal from their workplaces and houses of worship? Should these ignorant and immoral scoundrels fear for their safety, or that of their children’s…because the court of public opinion somehow holds the moral high ground? Who gave society that authority?
