Three Keys to Redefining Family and Finding Your Tribe

There’s what we had, what I thought we had…and then there’s what we have; and that’s not much these days. Lately, I’ve been bothered by a looming but necessary choice regarding key family members — more to it, their shelf-life in my ever-growing spiritual and economic marketplace: my heart.
I’m sad. And I’m frustrated. And I am exhausted. But I am finally ready to initiate conversations that will be more like declarations than discourse, more like indictments over inquiries. Even now, I’m talking “around” the subject — a habit many dislike about me — and that’s because I’ve grown accustomed to sugar-coating feedback and sparing feelings. We grew up that way. I was taught to minimize my feelings for the sake of the mission, even if it meant that one day I would disappear.
That mission?
Achieve the objective. No matter the cost.
