In my youth, my dream was set in stone like an ancient obelisk. I yearned to be a basketball star, and the Orlando Magic was my passion. I wore their jerseys with pride, memorized every player’s name, and admired the prowess of stars like Penny Hardaway and Shaquille O’Neal. My days were filled with school, basketball, fishing, and more basketball. I loved nothing more than feeling the rhythm of the ball in my hands and the wind in my face as I sank shots from beyond the arc.

One evening, after a long day of fishing, I paused to shoot some hoops in the driveway. As the sun began to set, my mother called me in for dinner.
